Use case · Profit and loss

Profit and loss by cost centre:
do you know what you earn yet?

Wyre's profit and loss by cost centre updates itself: income, costs and margin for every job, project or client, with the real margin next to the planned one. No more rebuilding the spreadsheet every month.

Where it hurts

Where the view
of the margin is lost.

  1. Once a month

The profit and loss is built in a spreadsheet at month-end, copying from three places.

  2. Late costs

Subcontractor and labour costs arrive late. The margin you see is no longer the real one.

  3. Project by project

Knowing which project makes money and which loses it means rebuilding the sheets one by one.

Where the information comes from

Income and costs,
in one place.

What Wyre does · ERP

Reads the accounts and supplier invoices. Assigns each cost to its job and line item.

How it solves it

From scattered data
to the real margin.

  1. Adds up the income

Collects the certifications and billing of every job.

    • Reads the issued certifications and the billing of every job.
    • Assigns each amount to its job and period.
    • Income stays up to date without copying figures between sheets.
  2. Assigns the costs

Assigns supplier invoices, subcontractors, labour and machinery to their line item.

    • Reads supplier invoices, subcontractors, payroll and machinery.
    • Assigns them to the right line item of each job.
    • Flags what does not fit so you can review it, instead of leaving it unassigned.
  3. Calculates the real margin

Compares it with the planned margin and with the other jobs.

    • Subtracts the allocated costs from the income of each job.
    • Compares it with the planned margin and with the other jobs.
    • Detects which job loses margin month after month.
  4. Alerts and lets you close the month

Alerts you if a job loses margin. Closing the month is reviewing and approving what Wyre prepared.

    • Alerts you when a job drops below its planned margin.
    • Leaves the month-end close prepared and reconciled.
    • Closing is reviewing and approving, not rebuilding sheets.

What changes

Your margin, before and after.

  • Account always up to date

  • Real margin next to planned

  • Every job in the same format

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • It is the profit and loss of each cost centre (job, project, client or installation): income minus supplier, subcontractor, labour and machinery costs. Wyre calculates it from your data and keeps it up to date, instead of building it once a month.

  • Yes. It is the most common use in construction and installation firms. The method is the same per project, client or installation: income and costs assigned to each one; only the data sources change.

  • From your ERP (a3, Sage, SAP, Holded, among others), Drive and email. If some data only lives in a site spreadsheet, that gets connected too.

  • Planned margin comes from the budget and the initial profit and loss; real margin comes from what has already been certified and invoiced. Wyre shows them together so you see how far each project is from plan.

  • Yes. All projects use the same format, so you can rank them by margin, see which ones are losing it and understand why.

  • No. It works on top of your ERP and your team: it prepares and maintains the profit and loss, while decisions and writes to your systems stay in your hands.

  • Because the account is already up to date, closing means reviewing what Wyre prepared: what was assigned and what is missing. Anything that needs judgment, it asks you before treating it as settled.
